Unfortunately, various harassment problems have arisen at universities throughout the country and countermeasures are urgently needed. Even though you may think that “it was not intended” or “it was a part of a guidance I also provide to other students”, the problem is how the other person sees it.
Therefore, Center for Teaching and Learning started a collaboration with the Harassment
counselling room to hold several types of workshops in the future. This one will be a small workshop with a focus on discussion and the theme is “Harassment among teachers and students”. We also plan to hold another one in this fiscal year, and a series of four events in the next one. We want to make an opportunity to disseminate the information about current situation and preventive measures in the context of Hokkaido University’s campus, from the perspective of the harassment counsellor.
Since it is first time, we will take up issues that are likely to occur between teachers and students, especially things to be cautious of when teaching students. In the second half of the workshop, we will share occurring problems with the other participants and decide on the theme of the next workshop.
This time we focus on faculty members, but we are also planning to set up another opportunity to learn for administrative staff members.
