Lecture: Correct understanding and practice of Active Learning

Date and time
2018.05.30 (Wed) 17:30-18:30
Venue
Hokkaido University Multimedia Education Building, 3th floor, Studio type Seminar Room

The term Active Learning (AL) has not only spread through the faculty members, but also students. However, soon the expression “AL fatigue” is starting to appear. Opinions, like: “I am tired of teachers making students talk about something” has been heard. However, this is not the AL.
To do an AL-type lesson, you need to properly understand AL and what are the necessary conditions. “Because it is a lecture-type lesson, AL cannot be implemented”; “This class is originally thought for AL, because it is an exercise-type class” – such way of thinking is not correct. The lecturer will explain about what kind of classes should be done as AL-type lessons, what the teachers should do for that purpose, and teach some fundamental things regarding AL.
This lecture is an introduction to AL and the main target are those who are unfamiliar with AL. If you are already using it, please participate in the advanced course.
