The Corona disaster led to the extensive use of online classes, which continued to be widely implemented this year. Based on last year’s findings, there has also been an increase in the number of hybrid classes, where students can participate either online or face-to-face. After observing how these difficulties impacted on student’s lives over the past year, there is a recognizable need to provide students with as many opportunities as possible to attend courses face-to-face, and a number of changes were implemented to facilitate this.
However, it is not uncommon to experience a situation where face-to-face attendance is offered to students, but the majority prefer to attend online. Why is this the case? What happened to all the students who wanted to take the course face-to-face last year?
In this seminar we would like to share two examples of hybrid teaching practices. One is a face-to-face class containing a large number of students, and the other is a primarily online class. Some students continued to attend the class face-to-face, some attended online, and a few interchanged how they attended. We would like to discuss with students and participants the reasons for their choice of course format and whether hybrid classes are still necessary in the future.
