Do you spend an inordinate amount of time grading reports? Are they returned to the students with a score? Do you have the clear criteria for presentations in your classes? Are you able to give clear answers to students’ enquiries about class evaluations with evidence? Among student dissatisfaction with the class, it is often heard that the lack of feedback on assignments and other submissions. Instructors feel that feedback is important and would like to implement it, but have trouble doing so as much as they would like because there are too many students, it takes too much time, etc.
By using what is called a rubric evaluation chart, which defines evaluation perspectives and criteria, it is possible for students to self-check their own work, give quick feedback and make unwavering evaluations. It is used in the evaluation of presentations, reports, practical training and group work among students.
This workshop provides an opportunity to learn the basics of how to create and utilize rubric assessments, and to introduce rubric assessments through hands-on experience of creating rubrics. It is not intended for teachers who are already using rubrics, but for teachers who want to start using rubrics in the future.
