For educators in Japan, teaching in English requires a combination of language proficiency, cultural competency, adaptability, and interpersonal skills, making it more than just translating slides. This seminar highlights the challenges and opportunities of using English as a medium of instruction (EMI). It provides participants with practical strategies and ideas to support students’ teaching practice. It will also be an opportunity to discuss changes in Japanese higher education in response to internationalization.

During the seminar, participants will familiarize themselves with the important concept of EMI. Through interactive activities and discussion, they will explore EMI and various teaching strategies for its implementation in their classrooms. Participants will also learn to set practical learning goals to enhance teaching effectiveness. They will also discuss typical challenges educators face, such as classroom silence, and will have the opportunity to share their insights and experiences.

※ Please note that photographs will be taken during the session for use in publicity activities and other promotional materials.
