With increasing number of international students and foreign faculty members at universities come more opportunities for English communication for both faculty and staff members.
Therefore, we will hold a training with the ALC Education Co. Ltd. and offer a chance to acquire some practical skills to write e-mails in English quickly and effectively.
The first part (format) will teach how to control the formal degree of sentences, and give some tips on how to control the degree of courtesy of request expressions, etc. In the second part (expressions) you will learn to properly deal with Japanese expressions that are hard to translate into English such as “to consider” or “to deal with”. You will also learn how to use recommended expressions related to English culture like refusal expressions.

Faculty and staff members belonging to higher education facilities; as a criterion for participating in Listening training TOEIC score between 500 – 990 points is required.
Graduate students cannot participate.

Regardless of whether the application exceeds the participants capacity or not – we will contact you regarding the acceptance of your attendance on December 25th (Monday).
When applying, each applicant receives an automatic mail with a confirmation of the registration for an event. Please be aware that this is unrelated to the final acceptance of your event attendance.
In the event that the application exceeds the capacity limit, participants will be selected by a lot and results will be reported to all applicants.
If the cancellation occurs after the participant is selected, we do not extend the capacity or take more applications.
Participation is free of charge, but you will be responsible for transportation expenses etc. for participation in this training.
