Have you ever encountered an international student who can only communicate in English, or received a phone call from a faculty member who must conduct all of their procedures in English? Such occurrences are unavoidable, regardless of which department you are transferred to. In these situations, you would prefer to be able to communicate in simple English yourself, rather than relying on someone who can speak English and having to ask, “XX-san, please take care of this for me.”
The Practical English Conversation (Business English) seminar, consisting of three sessions of 90 minutes each, was held in June this year and was very well received. We have therefore decided to hold an intensive training seminar with a more compact content for two hours. The popular pair work sessions will be repeated this time, and basic expressions at registration of academic conferences in English will also be included, as suggested by participants. This seminar aims to improve English language skills through practical training based on anticipated situations, mainly through pair work.
This seminar offers practical/business English conversation training to both faculty and staff members (at the beginner level). The purpose of this training is to help re-familiarize yourself with spoken English, recall words and expressions you have already learned as students, and be able to speak confidently in situations where you have to perform your duties in English.

Same for both sessions:
・Expressions related to requests, such as “I want you to do ____”.
・Expressions that convey your situation to the other person, using cushioning language.
・Negative expressions, such as “I can’t___” and “please don’t___”.
・The following are some examples of expressions that can be used in English.
・Basic English expressions for registration process of academic conferences, etc
