Organized by: Center for Teaching and Learning, Center for Open Education

This event is only open to Hokkaido University faculty members.

Due to COVID-19, courses and research supervision have been conducted online through a process of trial and error. Forced to make sudden and considerable changes, students, as well as the faculty running the courses, have been confronted with a wide range of problems. On the other hand, with the advantages of running courses online, COVID-19 has presented opportunities for university education, which, can be said, has reached a pivotal period of change. Hokkaido University must not glaze over these changes and should take the lead in positively facing them.

This seminar acts a platform to reflect upon this first semester of online classes before then sharing information on the issues we’ve faced to build upon what we have learned for next semester. After hearing from a number of faculty members regarding assigning homework, providing feedback on those assignments, grading procedures, and faculty–student communication in their online classes, there will be a discussion involving the participants. We will also be concentrating on how to support our students based on consultations at the Student Advice and Counseling Center.

By sharing our experiences, this is an opportunity for us to examine what kind of measures we should be taking to tackle these many issues. For those who are unable to participate due to time constraints, this seminar will be uploaded online following the event.

Please use your university email address when registering.
