In modern higher education institutions, campuses are filled with students and faculty members from diverse cultural backgrounds. For us working in such a diverse environment, appropriate responses to each student and smooth communication among colleagues are essential for facilitating daily academic support and operations, and these elements are crucial for enhancing the quality of work.
This training focuses on intercultural communication in the workplace, but it does not limit "culture" to frameworks such as nationality or language. It considers various factors derived from different groups, such as age and place of origin, as part of culture, assuming that each individual can belong to multiple cultures. Through this perspective, the aim is to deepen understanding of communication between different cultures in the workplace and provide hints for building a workplace environment that leverages diversity.
To truly harness diversity in the workplace, it is important to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable speaking and asking questions. Through this training, let’s aim to understand a part of your communication style, promote dialogue and collaboration in the workplace, and create a more inclusive and effective work environment.
After the training, there will be a time for networking, including questions to the instructor, so please be sure to participate.
Recommended for those who:
・Need to communicate in two or more languages, such as Japanese and English (or Chinese).
・Struggling with communication styles in languages other than their native language.
・Concerned about whether their messages are being accurately conveyed among team members from diverse cultural backgrounds.
This program focuses on:
1.Understand the mechanism of "culture" that unconsciously influences daily operations and
comprehend the background of misunderstandings that arise.
2.Recognize part of your own communication style and deepen your understanding of communication between different cultures.
3.Learn a generic communication style for working with individuals from various cultural backgrounds.
